Go Pro!

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

I’m uploading some pictures from Navi and Shaun’s Wedding to Flickr, and I noticed I have a “Pro” account because I signed up for ATT U-verse. Thanks ATT, that’s a $24.95/year savings for me. So you see, there are benefits between linking your Yahoo and Flickr account.

How are they doing this?

Is there some feed that shows when people log in? Friggin’ Myspace

Fun Fact: An elementary school links to my site. Why? I posted a clip from the Daily Show about Myspace.

Walloping Failure

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

Let’s see what’s going on with Wallop Wallop=sad

That’s right, nothing.

Also I love this Textmate plugin, it’s the best thing that ever happened to the “blogging” world. Ever.

Ah, my ridiculously circuitous plan is one-quarter complete!

Hello there, friend. You look bored. Are you tired of the internet? Perhaps MySpace/Youtube has let you down, getting boring you might say. Afterall, you don’t want to end up on Dateline, you sick little paedophile you.

You need a little spice, in the form of massively multiplayer online role-playing game set in a quarantined region of the fictional city of Malton dealing with aftermath of a zombie outbreak. You need a little Urban Dead.

It’s the perfect game. It has that important quality of being easy to pick up and play. And it always leaves you in that “just one more turn” mode. What more could you want from a game that only takes about 5 minutes a day to play.

Anyways, if you do decide to try it out don’t be a Doctor. I picked a Doctor and it’s been hell. I figured in a post-apocalyptic scenario, what could be more awesomer than a man of science, a Doctor. But it’s taking forever to level up.

Also some important links,

If you still haven’t decided to try it out, Urban Dead was even mentioned in the NY Times. I thought that might convince you. Just click here to begin. And if you see rince tragic, watch out. I’ll hit you with an axe and heal you afterwards, for the experience points you see.

Bra-fucking-vo AOL

Saturday, May 20th, 2006

It seems once again AOL has killed my AIM account. I can’t login to robotjones1013 anymore. It’s ridiculous. I haven’t tried the password reset feature yet because I don’t want robotjones1013 to disappear forever.

I hate AIM. Really hate AIM.

I’ve got 9000 friends, yea, on MySpace

MySpace is exploding. Seems everyone and their cousin are joining MySpace. And as soon as they finish their profile, they’re finding me and I get emails with subjects like “_____ would like to be added to as one of your friends”. Essentially forcing me to log in and accept their request. Otherwise, I look like I’m too good to even log in and accept their friend request.

I’m not sure when I joined MySpace exactly, but looking at my profile it was probably during those cavalier days of 2003. I have my Top 20 of 2003 listed in my profile,

  1. The New Pornographers “Electric Version”
  2. Radiohead “Hail To The Thief”
  3. Super Furry Animals “Phantom Power”
  4. British Sea Power “The Decline of British Sea Power”
  5. Blur “Think Tank”
  6. Belle & Sebastian “Dear Catastrophe Waitress”
  7. Arab Strap “Monday At The Hug And Pint”
  8. Clearlake “Cedars”
  9. The Decemberists “Her Majesty”
  10. Dizzee Rascal “Boy In Da Corner”
  11. The Shins “Chutes Too Narrow”
  12. Four Tet “Rounds”
  13. The National “Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers”
  14. The Tyde “Twice”
  15. The Thrills “So Much For This City”
  16. Aereogramme “Sleep and Release”
  17. The Constantines “Shine A Light”
  18. Exploding Hearts “Guitar Romantic”
  19. Snow Patrol “Final Straw”
  20. The Thermals “More Parts Per Million”
Yep, even then I knew how to rock. The only thing I would change is the positions of “The Decline of British Sea Power” and maybe “Think Tank”. They need to be higher. “The Decline of British Sea Power” is a classic. Definitely one of my “Perfect CDs”.

Now, back to MySpace. The whole point of this post is to point out how I joined MySpace before you. 2003! Almost 3 years ago. I’m a trendspotter.

And as a bonus, here’s a clip from The Daily Show about MySpace, starring a fellow trendspotter, Demetri Martin

Blogosphere, Sup?

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

Remember my post, There is/are no god(s) :( from a few days ago? It’s taking the internet by storm. The traffic to my site(that post) has increased by a jillion percent.

I’ve gotten a few hits because of that video of David Cross. Mainly from this guy. And I’ve been linked by other various blogs and forums. I guess the one I’m most proud of, is by this Gnome developer, Joe Shaw. Though he links directly.

It’s always interesting how things spread on the internet. I mean, here I am, writing this for a handful of people, and it just propogates. I mean if you search for David Cross Rant, the video I encoded is the first result

Google Results

And take a look at my bandwidth usage,

It takes a jump when I posted the video.

So yea, it feels good.

That Fresh Feeling

Raishad.com has went under the knife and came out looking like a million bucks. Long was working on a theme, but I decided to trash all his hard work and steal this theme, Almost Spring. I modified it a bit, and I think it looks pretty good. I added some calendars, navigation links, and tweaked the colors. Plus, I revamped the video playing system. Videos now open in a popup. Also, that new button you see on the right, “Get Firefox with Google Toolbar”, is supposed to give me a buck everytime someone installs Firefox. But so far it hasn’t worked. It’s registered clicks, but no money has come in.

If you didn’t know, Savannah Armstrong, was on MTV’s Miss Seventeen. Notice the was. She got kicked out on tonight’s episode. It was a very dirty trick. Her team was wrapping up a photoshoot, and the cameraman was like, lemme take some pictures of you. And apparently if you’re on a show about modeling, taking pictures is a faux pau. The way it was explained, her accepting the photographer’s offer to take extra pictures showed she was selfish. It would’ve been wild if she actually won. She was at the New Year’s Eve Party where I got plastered.

I probably won’t go out of my way to watch the show again. It’s not as great as “My Super Sweet 16″, in terms of laughing at people and finding out how horrible people can be but it has it’s moments. Like on today’s episode, some girl started crying because her photos were a little too “racy”. I’m not a girl or anything, but of all the things to get upset over, showing some skin shouldn’t even register.

Also, I’m rescinding my full endorsement of Smackage.com. One of the writers over there seems to have a problem with Steve Jobs, and it’s to a point where it hurts the site. I’m not saying you have to love Steve Jobs, but he’s a good guy. He’s no worse than any other company figurehead. So I’m tacking on a caveat before I re-endorse Smackage.com, Don’t Read Articles With The Words ‘Steve Jobs’ In Them.

Did you pick the goat?

I’d like to take a moment to welcome Xanga into the world of “Web Standards”. I noticed that the Xanga RSS Fixer I use was broken. Wondering what’s up, I tried using the rss feed that Xanga provides, http://www.xanga.com/rss.aspx?user=. And amazingly, it’s a valid feed.

[Valid RSS]

And yes, you don’t have to mention that my site isn’t valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional. I’m working on it. The problem comes from embedding the Quicktime movies. “embed” isn’t a valid XHTML tag. But that’s the only way you can embed a Quicktime movie so it’ll work on Mac OS, and I assume other OS’s like FreeBSD. The “object” tag is there for Windows.

Now, if you’ll shift your eyes to the sidebar on your right, you’ll notice 2 new links, Photos and Smackage.

Photos is a link to my Flickr-based gallery. I’m using the FAlbum WordPress Plugin. I feel it integrates very nicely.

Smackage is Jenny’s new project. It’s your general web entertainment site. I’m supposed to be writing for it, but I’m absolutely rubbish at writing. I peaked at 11th grade. I’m especially bad with reviews. All I can say is if something is decent. I’m not good at putting the reasons down into text. Partly because I feel like such a phony, and like I mentioned, I’m just not good at writing. So look forward to my one word reviews, I guess.
