Remember the volcanic ash cloud? The one that terrorized Europe last week?

Well, it also affected me. And I wasn’t even anywhere near Europe.

Frightened Rabbit was going to play a show at The Loft last Thursday, April 22nd. But because of that ash cloud, they couldn’t get to Dallas in time.

This marked the 3rd time in two months that I had missed Frightened Rabbit.

Attempt #1. The Onion AV Club Party at SXSW. This was an afternoon show, like at 5pm. I was feeling dehydrated and hungry. I left the Mohawk in search of food and drink just as they were coming on. I had to, or I felt I would die.

Attempt #2. The Don’t Mess With Texas Party at SXSW. They were playing after Billy Bragg. I saw Billy Bragg. I could’ve stayed. But, we had to leave. Had to get to the Salt Lick in time. But here’s the best part, no Salt Lick BBQ either that night.

Attempt #3. The Loft. I didn’t worry about the previous times at SXSW. Frightened Rabbit was going to play at The Loft! The Loft is my favorite venue. Frightened Rabbit is a pretty amazing band. I was super excited for this show. But, that volcano had to erupt.

I will never see Frightened Rabbit live. This is a truth.
