Good Things Come To Those Who Wait

In this case a band I love is stopping by! Fun!

British Sea Power.

They were in Texas for SXSW earlier this month, but getting a wristband and traveling to Austin and getting off work, it just wasn’t in the cards. I was disappointed. After SXSW they were going on a North American tour and then returning to Texas on April 12th and 13th to play shows in Austin and Houston. I was thinking of making a trip. But then, the most wonderful thing happened. An email arrived in my Inbox this morning announcing new dates:

Apr 11 Dallas, TX @ The Loft (Coulourmusic & Film School support)

Apr 12 Austin, TX @ Club Deville (Colourmusic & Film School support)

Apr 13 Houston, TX @ Numbers (Colourmusic & Film School support)

April 11, they’ll be in Dallas!

BSP are amazing. They make the kind of music that makes you want to never stop, slowly depressing the velocitator.

Listening to BSP should be covered under an international treaty.

The award for “Most Awkward Error Message Ever” goes to the Mac BU over at Microsoft

RDC Error Message

Seriously? “The Mac cannot connect to the Windows-based computer”

Just too many words, that explain nothing. Of course I’m using a Mac. Of course I’m trying to connect to a Windows machine. I would’ve taken a boring, simple, meaningful – Unable to Connect, Connection Timeout.

Steak-mmms?

The impossible has happened. I have eaten Steak! Yes, Steak!

You’re thinking, How? Raishad is a Hindoo. He doesn’t dine on cow.

But I found a loophole/technicality – Buffalo Steak. Isn’t that great. A Buffalo isn’t a Cow. Same family, but I think what is the main difference/validation is that we don’t drink Buffalo milk. At least I don’t.

So last Friday, Surren, myself, and some others went to the Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse in Dallas. And I had

BUFFALO FILET MIGNON Featured on the Food Network Channel as “One of the best steaks in the nation” Seasoned w/ our special blend of spices

So what did I think? Eh. Nothing special. I mean compared to the amount of crap I get whenever I go out to eat and someone else has steak and makes a comment like “You don’t know what you’re missing”, it was sort of a let down. I’ve eaten better meat.

I had it “Medium” since that was what Long recommended. And you know, I think I would’ve preferred it “Well Done”. I really enjoyed the outside. That was tasty. The meat in the inside – not so much. But then as I understand it, you’re not supposed to order a steak “Well Done”. What’s up with that?

So in conclusion, I’m not missing anything.

Chris asked

11:03:21 PM Chris: you wouldnt happen to have a copy of omars trance mix…

Turns out I did. The CD was a little scratched so there may be a few skips?

(Hint: the track you want is #37) (Another Hint: If you’re reading this on Facbook, be sure to click that link that says “View Original Post” above so you can see the nice Flash music player)

Cars! Cars! Cars! How do you like it?

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Well it finally happened on Spur 408

The RAV4 hit 30,000 miles. 2 Years and about A Week after I first drove off the Don Davis Toyota Lot.

So what do I think of it after all this time/miles? It’s still brilliant. There isn’t a compact SUV out there I would trade it in for. Now it’s not perfect, but of all the things I desire in a car, it covers them pretty well.

If you know me well, when purchasing big ticket items, you know I like to focus on one feature to a fault. Off the top of my head, when buying my last digital camera I really wanted a wide angle lens. So, I got a Panasonic DMC-FX01. It’s a decent camera, but low light performance is noisy. So when I was looking for a car, I was focused on a car that can hold stuff – specifically a 27″ CRT TV. And you know what, the RAV4 excels in holding stuff. It can even fit a 40″ LCD TV (more on this later). A feature that I used 4 times in the last few months. Yet it also drives well, gets good mileage, and looks good.

The one thing I wish I could improve – road noise. It’s a little noisy sometimes. I have a feeling, I can’t back it up, but my Taurus was a lot quieter.

So for the next model – Toyota, make it quieter, give me a diesel option, more tie downs in the rear, and a 6sp transmission. And don’t take the tire off the rear door.

Thanks!

I’m America

Caucusing is hard. Voting is easy. I voted the Sunday before last. It took like 15 minutes.

Caucusing took all night. I got home around 1:30am.

But the upshot is I’m a precinct delegate for Obama. I’m heading to the Tarrant County Convention on March 29th. I wasn’t planning on being one, but everyone had left (it was after 12 after all). And I couldn’t disappoint Obama and let Hillary take Precinct 2635.

So yea, I’m more of an American than you.
