The wheels on the bus go round and round

Today is a great day for america!

This morning, the rain was bucketing down. I knew it was raining since I saw the lightning when I was in the restroom, but the immensity didn’t hit till I opened the front door to leave. I had to run upstairs to get my trusty red UTA rain pullover just for the run over to my car. I thought of waiting it out, but I figured after the rain stopped you’ll have your boy racers going to fast and losing control. With it raining heavily, at least everyone will be taking their time. And it was fine, no accidents or anything. It was only when I got off the highway and on Regal Row did it start fire hosing down. All you saw was white. It was like that time I saw “One Night at McCool’s” with Chris and Jen. After dropping Chris off, it just got wet. Couldn’t see anything and it was at night. We had to go back to his house and wait. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option this morning. But I was close to work and got there without incident.

And the best part, is that I park in a parking garage. And from the parking garage to the building there is a covered walkway. I did have to make a tiny sacrifice by rolling down my window to swipe my card, but it was so worth it.

Anways, the point of the preceding paragraphs is to talk about the RAV4 and compare it with the Taurus. See the Taurus had a problem with water. If I was going through deep water, and enough splashed up, the power steering would go. Not a lie. And the battery light would come on. I mentioned this to my dad many times, and he always said it sounded like some belt needed replacing. But you know, it never got replaced. The RAV4 doesn’t have this problem.

But it does have a design flaw, sorta. I have a wiper on the rear window. I’ve used it before with no trouble. But today was the heaviest rain since I got the RAV4, and I noticed something odd. I kept on hearing a splashing sound that repeated at a constant rate. I was puzzled, until I noticed it synced up perfectly with my rear wiper. The rear wiper was sweeping water against the tailgate, making the splashing noise. I don’t know if that’s normal, if that’s the situation with other hatchbacks, wagons, and suvs? But it is sort of annoying. Though I’d take annoying over losing power steering any day of the week.

You told me the taurus was the best designed car ever, never letting on that I was dealing with the devil everytime I stepped in!

When you have your wipers going fast, they tend to carry and push water radially away from the center of rotation, not perpendicular to the wiper blade as you’d want it to. With your wipers at the bottom of the glass, this causes it to shoot up to your tail. The best setup for SUVs would probably be for the blade’s center of rotation to be at the top of the glass, this way it’d push water mostly downward. But there’s usualy no room to put it at the top since thats a hatch edge that opens away from the rest of the car. Not enough room to hide a wiper setup
