Why you should mod your XBox, Reason #245:

You can watch your Web Courses, which are Real Video streams, on your TV using XBox Media Center. You are untethered from your computer. Think of it as a really boring episode of 24.

It’s the future of E-Learning really.

OOOOOoooooo….Chimpanzee That! Monkey News

You know, sometimes, I kind of enjoy this job of mine. It’s not what I want to be doing at all, but when things are going smoothly, it’s kinda fun.

By smoothly, I mean, I get asked a question I know the answer to.

By fun, I mean, I don’t hate it.

One thing that really surprises me is that people don’t try. I’m not saying, take out a screwdriver and replace that hard drive yourself. But, maybe, if you’re trying to see how to export an Access 2003 DB to an Access 97 DB, spend the few seconds to google it or look in the help menu. This doesn’t apply to Lotus Notes though, if you have any problem with Lotus Notes, call and I’ll create a ticket and make it someone else’s problem. Lotus Notes serves as a shining example of what happens when you don’t properly design software.

Also, driving to work is the perfect opportunity to listen to The Ricky Gervais Show. I shouldn’t be laughing that hard while traveling at 65mph.

Hey, is there a hemi in there?

Get this, a flathead isn’t called a flathead. Apparently, the proper name for a flathead screwdriver is “slotted”. Did you know that? It’s news to me.

This is obviously a plot by the Tool Makers of America to make you look like a moron whenever you go to Home Depot.

Throwing A Spanner In The Works

If you ever need need a small set of screwdrivers for opening up the memory compartment in a Powerbook, Radio Shack is the place to go.

I ordered a 1GB PC2700 SODIMM to replace the 512MB SODIMM I have in my notebook mainly because 1) MacOS X loves memory 2) the price of DDR is going up while DDR2 is coming down. So it was probably the right time to buy, before DDR got crazy expensive.

So I’m going to drop in the memory. I got 3 screws out, but the 4th was proving difficult. Seems when I originally pu the 512MB in there, I sorta stripped the screw. And I didn’t want to try and force it, since I didn’t want to completely strip the screw and have to use one of those “screw-getter-outers” on such a delicate piece of equipment. See, I didn’t really have the proper tool for the job, I was using a big screwdriver. I put a screw in a plastic baggie and made my way to Home Depot. Surprisingly, they had nothing. All they had were big screwdrivers, nothing for a 2.5mm screw. Then I headed over to Sears, figuring they’ll have a bigger selection. You know, Craftsman and all that. But nothing. Undefeated, I headed upstairs to the jewelry section, but the guy said to check downstairs, where I just was.

I figured a jewelry store would be the place to go, since they deal with small screws all the time. I found a jewelry repair place by Mervyn’s, and the guy said to head over to Radio Shack. I was like Radio Shack?, that store was useless. But I was running out of time, I had to leave for work soon. But you know, Radio Shack was the store to go. They had a Kronus Precision Phillips Screwdriver Set with really tiny screwdrivers. The 2.4mm screwdriver in the set worked perfectly. Apparently, He-man himself had screwed in that last screw before. I had to call upon the Power of Grey Skull to get it out.

Egbert is leaving. And I gave him a fricking Lunar Lander! And I missed dinner with him cause I was on a call. I may never see Egbert again :(

But the good news is that I did pay off my mortage yesterday. It felt nice. But unfortunately that feeling wouldn’t last, I ordered an extension on my house. So I’m back in debt, 120,000 bells.

It’s funny, but is it going to get them off their tractors?

Why Fox? Why are you such an ass? Fox Schedule for 1/8

I mean, I love House as much as the next guy. I love Hugh Laurie. I wish we were best friends really. But do we need 3 hours of House this week, 2 being repeats?

Just show the remaining 2 episodes of Arrested Development. Don’t be a jerk.

The Band of the Century (Maybe)

I love the Arctic Monkeys. They’re my band of 2006 and by 2007 you’ll hopefully be sick of hearing about them too much.

Here’s their latest video for their single, “When The Sun Goes Down”.

The Cardigans - Life

Haven’t had one of these for a while, but Today’s Song of the Day is Rise & Shine by The Cardigans off their 1996 album, Life.

This song was a surprise. It appeared while on random when I was in my car. I absolutely enjoy this stuff. I eat it up. It’s the jangly guitars and the voice, it reigns me in and I can’t escape. The Cardigans, obviously, know this.

I can’t stand paying full retail price for videogames. It goes against my nature. But the trouble is that sales on videogames are hard to predict. You know the first week it’ll be cheaper, usually $5 or $10 off, but after that it’s a mystery. But you know what’s worse than paying full price, waiting. That’s why god created Best Buy.

I thought everyone knew this little trick, but I was mistaken. See, Best Buy has all sorts of giftcards. There’s usually a huge display right by the cash registers. If you peruse their selection, you’ll notice they have a “Games” gift card. And on the back of the gift card is a coupon for $5 off any videogame over $19.99. So what I usually do is buy that gift card, and then I use the gift card with the coupon to buy the game I want. It’s like winning the lottery. Best Buy is giving you $5 for just being awesome.

And don’t feel bad or ashamed for doing it. It’s Best Buy, they deserve it.
