Computer… Tea, Earl Grey, hot.

What is it with ice tea and social events, why is it always so awful? On Saturday I went to UTA’s graduate school preview, and it occured to me, I’ve never had good ice tea at these things. But you know what’s worse than ice tea, coffee. Any and all kinds of coffee. I’ve tried to like coffee, but there’s this “burnt” flavor that just doesn’t go away. I can’t get used to it, and I can’t ignore it.

But other than the beverage choices, the graduate school preview was interesting. I’m doing the non-thesis plan, so I have to pick 2 major areas. My choices are:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Database
  • Multimedia/Graphics/Image Processing
  • Software Engineering
  • Systems/Architecture
  • Networks
  • Theory and Algorithms
  • Bioinformatics
I’m not sure what I want to pick. I like Networks. I hate Theory and Algorithms. Bioinformatics is a new area they’re recently added. Multimedia/Graphics/Image Processing scares me. I also don’t like Systems/Architecture. Artificial Intelligense could be interesting. Same with Databases. I’ll have to go see my advisor some time.

Take a listen to Verve – On Your Own. It came on Party Shuffle today, and it clung on. I couldn’t forget it. “On Your Own” is from a different Verve than what you’re probably used to hearing. This is before Urban Hymns/Bittersweet Sympony when the band was more in the psychedelic/shoegazing part of their life.

I really like the sound of AI and Multimedia. For jobs that are available and you might love though, i think network or databases is a good way to go

    Congrats on grad school.

I am not a coffe fan unless it’s packed full of sugar, frozen and topped with whipped cream. But after that, I might as well just eat a huge cake because the calories are about the same. I like hot tea…like cinnamon sunrise. It took a day or two to get used to drinking something hot in the morning but it’s great. Especially now that it’s cold.
